Allt fler inser att Bush hade rätt...

Fler och fler måste erkänna att den taktik som Bush valde har trots allt bidragit till en ökad demokratisering av mellanöstern. Sakta men säkert ökar trycket på länderna att inleda demokratisering. I tal och i handling har Bush visat att frihet och demokratisering är enda vägen.

Bush sa i sitt tal i tisdags...

"By now it should be clear that decades of excusing and accommodating tyranny in the pursuit of stability have only led to injustice and instability and tragedy,"

Det blir allt mer tydligt även för resten utav världen också...


I senaste numret utav The Independent frågar Rupert Cornwell sig om inte Bush ändå hade rätt...

"As Syria pulls out of Lebanon, and the winds of change blow through the Middle East, this is the difficult question that opponents of the Iraq war are having to face"

Även brittiska tidningen The Guardian håller med..

"We need to face up to the fact that the Iraq invasion has intensified pressure for democracy in the Middle East"

Vänstertidningen New York Times hoppar också på tåget om än motvilligt.

"Mr. Bush is feeling the glow of the recent flurry of impulses toward democracy in Iraq, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and even Egypt and Saudi Arabia, where events have put him on a bit of a roll and some of his sharpest critics on the defensive"

Det är ett paradigmskifte som har skett på flera ledarsidor på senaste tiden. Likt dominobrickor är det allt fler som byt sida och valt att erkänna att Bush kanske trots allt hade rätt att kämpa för frihet och demokrati i mellanöstern.

Bush vice försvarsminister Paul D. Wolfowitz sa en gång.

"status quo of despotism cannot be ignored or appeased, kept in a box or cut off,"
